
Honoring the Legacy of Billy Ray Parmer: A Life Dedicated to Ministry and Missions
Billy Ray Parmer pastored churches in San Gabriel, Golinda, and Valley Mills, Texas for 36 years. He was involved in Mexico missions for over 35 years. He was a true servant of God and was motivated by his love for people and dedication to missions. He had a solid record of support for Texas Baptist Ministries and is a former member of the SBC Disaster Response Team. Bill served in many leadership roles for Baptists including the Committee of 100, Nominations Committee of the Executive Board, Co-Chair of Texas Baptists Committed, Cooperative Giving Committee member and served two terms as Second Vice-President of the BGCT. He was also honored as Rural Pastor of the Year for Texas four times during his career and was the 1995 recipient of the prestigious George W. Truett Churchman Award given annually by the Baylor University Alumni Association. His untimely death in 2004 has begun a new chapter in the history of GAP.
